Ward Dismantles Kessler

Andre Ward finished off the first round of fights in the Super Six tournament by easily beating Mikkel Kessler with a points win after the fight was stopped in the 11th due to a cut over Kessler's right eye caused by a clash of heads.

Ward gets 2 points in the tournament, but more importantly he takes Kessler's crown and is now the WBA Super Middleweight champ.

Very impressive showing by Ward. He jumped all over Kessler straight from the off and the Dane just could not cope with Ward's speed and elusiveness.

Kessler was the pre-tournament favourite to win the Super Six but on this showing tonight he looked like a fighter who is on the way down in his career. He gets a chance to become a World Champ straight away in his next fight when he meets Carl Froch in the tournament, but after tonight Froch will certainly be fancying his chances of the win.
