According to multiple reports. Basically, he said that they sucked against Atlanta, and that they'll play as long as they need to before they show him that they're ready. I like it. Hopefully, no one gets hurt and they man up and kick the butts of the Cowboys backups quickly (Dallas isnt playing their starters) and we can move on to week 1.
If they stink against Dallas' backups.....well, then we have mor problems than we thought!

Falcons post game analysis |

I am not as insightful as RMD was but at least you can read my analysis in 5 minutes. anyway here it goes:
What I liked. Henne actually looked off a WR this game (it was only one time but it is progress. He did show nice touch on a couple of passes. That one throw to Bess was too hot to handle but it was a tight window (one thing Cecil Collins never found) so maybe he had to throw it that hard. I could not really tell from the NFL network replay. Henne also checked down to the RB several times wich I have always said is Ronnie Browns best ability. Get that man the ball in space and let him work.
I also thought Hartline played really well. I loved Vonte Davis' effort he was brilliant. He covered well he closed on the ball and most importantly when in position he made the play. He keeps that up he will be in the pro bowl for sure.
Dansby is every bit the linebacker he was advertised to be. Our front 7 appears to be pretty stout with one small exception ( I will get to that later). Clemmons didn't make any plays but he really appeared to be in position to make them if he was needed to. Sadly that's about it for what I liked.
What I didn't like. My God the O-line was atrocious. Long has trouble against Abraham, don't know why but he showed that last season as well. Carey was okay he is just fat and slow.
The interior line was fuc**** terrible. Jerry played more like one of Jerry's kids. He was pushed back, clogged up running lanes and can't pull block to save his life. Icognito wasn't much better. I lost count of the number of running plays that were blown up and there was Jerry running up behind the play after missing a block or being too slow to pull. Our coaches wanted to replace Donald Thomas who could run block but was terrible in pass pro. Jerry can pass pro but he can't run block Not sure we have improved at this poition yet. Smiley was hurt so I understand the need to move on but he could pull block like a mother fucker and this team really really misses that. The counter is Ricky's favorite running play and right now we don't have the O-line to pull that play off.
Berger/Grove. When Grove was in the game the Falcons blitz was giving us fits. With Berger in the game we picked up the blitz far better. I am guessing Berger does a better job with the line calls than Grove. However Grove is a superior blocker to Berger. This is the first game I really focused on that battle and I can see why it is so tough for Sparano to make a decision between the two.
The other problem with our O-line and their lack of ability is it forces us to run a max protect I saw at least two plays where we only sent two guys out into the pattern. Going to be tough to find an open WR when we only have two guys out and they have 4 DB's. last season I often bitched about Hennings offensive scheme but now I wonder how much of it was hiding o O-line deficiencies. (although I still think Henning is a not much of an offensive co-ordinator.)
I see what Sparano meant when he called Allen a "boundary corner" when he plays outside technique and the WR stays outside he is okay. If he has to cover in space he sucks.
Henne still stares down recievers and not just Brandon Marshall. The interception to Fasano is a perfect example. He stared the whole way and it gave the LB time to drop back into the passing lane and deflect the ball. The one time he did stare off the defender he came back to Fasano but waited a second to throw it. that needs to be a quicker decision. He has the athletic ability but he does not have Pennington's smarts at least with experience there is hope he may develop that.
Koa Misi. If you run the play right at him he hold up very well. He really got fell for too many fakes and got caught inside. Most of Atlanta's running yards were plays that were stuffed at the line for no gain and then bounced outside because Misi lost contain. Francis did a much better job of that when he was in there. That is something Misi will get with experience overall I think he has a very bright future with our club.
Coach Sparano. He has messed around with our line up too much. Pick a starting OL and let them work together. I do think some of our slow starts are guys not getting enough reps in camp. In this game our "starters" played the first series then we saw mixing and matching going on. Because of this I don't take too much away from our poor showing against Atlanta. I suppose camp is the time to figure this out I would just like him to settle things sooner so we can start getting ready for the regular season.
Sean Smith. You get punished for being late and them bite on a double move that shows everyone watching you head isn't in the game. I loved that we drafted him and loved him in pre season but since then he has been a disapointment. Hopefully he will get his head sorted out.
Overall I think our defense actually played pretty well just one or two mistakes (face it Jason Allen will not be starting for us come September 12th) With Allen not healthy you can see why we have signed two DB's
I hope Sapp can play the slot. However our O-line really really worries me.
