Default Bowe signs new deal and Jennings NOT tagged.

Our free agent WR options got a bit clearer today, with Dwayne Bowe signing a new 5 year deal with the Chiefs and it being reported that Jennings did not get tagged by the Packers. Both are being reported by NFL.com. Bowe signing allowed the Chiefs to tag Brandon Albert, their starting OT, which makes the number one pick in the draft very interesting. They've traded for Smith, so not going to be a QB, tagged Albert, so not going to be the next most likely option of an OT, so leaves who it will be WIDE open.

So, if we're going to get a new WR via free agency, it's now down to either Wallace or Jennings. There are others available, eg Welker (v unlikely he's not back in NE), but those two are the biggest names and most likely to improve our WR corps in a meaningful way.

On another note, I notice that the Titans didn't tag Jared Cook, so he might be a TE that we'll now show interest in.

Fun really starts next week when free agency begins, can't wait...

I really, really want Jennings. And Im more and more wary of Wallace the closer we get to next Tuesday. Id like Cook, but he'll be really expensive. If we can bring in Keller at a fraction of the cost, but at 80% of the production, I think it would be a good move.

I'd prefer Wallace over Jennings. I like his speed.

We're apparently close to a deal with Hartline that will pay him $6.5m a year. With Bowe apparently getting $11m a year from KC, the $12m Wallace wants is maybe going to get paid after all. But I wonder if it will be us that pays it...

Look at it this way. 12 mil for Wallace?

Or 12 mil for Jennings AND a top TE?

Have to say if Hartline is going to get paid about $6 to $6 mill per season I am happy with that. I do not see Bowe as that much better a player to warrent an extra $5 mill or so per year.

If we can get Jennings / Cook or Jennings / Keller and the O will be looking better than last season.

Next key thing though is Starks. If we can get him signed to a long-term deal that will be very good, especially with Soliai due to be a FA in 2014.

    I vote B.

I really think it's unlikely we sign Wallace, going by Philbin's stated desire not to have a WR that wants all the targets. And it's hard to justify not doing that when you're paying one of your WR's $12m a season.

Ideally I'd like Jennings and a top TE...then use at least one early pick in the draft to add a speedy WR, with a later one for a project.
